Hi,

I am using Windows 10 Home Edition on my personal laptop. For the past few months I am facing this particular issue. The Network icon shows I am not connected, were as I am able to access the internet.

The same issue is occuring when i connect with my mobile hotspot too. I have tried all the solutions provided in the old posts. But it was not successful.

Provide a solution to fix this issue as i could not able to connect to ther microsoft services.

TIA

Srini

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

    What is the manufacturer and model of your computer?

    If you prefer, you can share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

    Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    Also. What is the version of your Windows 10?

    • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

    If you prefer, share a screenshot.

    Be sure to censor your email address if it appears. The Microsoft Community is public.

    I await your reply.

    Thanks for the screenshots.

    I suggest doing the following:

    Reset the network settings as instructed below:

    1. Open Start and select "Settings > Network & Internet > Status";
    2. At the bottom of the page, click on "Network Reset";
    3. Select "Reset Now", and at the confirmation screen, select "Yes";

    Note: The PC will need to be restarted.

    1. Now open Start and type cmd;
    2. Right-click on "Command Prompt" in the result list and select "Run as administrator";
    3. At the Command Prompt, type the following commands one at a time and press Enter:
    netsh int ip reset
    netsh winsock reset
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns

    1. Restart your PC and see if the issue is resolved.

    If the problem persists, please do the following:

    1. Press "Windows + R", type regedit and press Enter;
    2. Navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

    1. Take a screenshot of the right panel and share it.

    Feel free to ask back any questions.

    Thanks for the screenshot

    It appears that a crucial registry key is missing, which prevents the network icon from displaying the correct status.

    To resolve this, you'll need to add the key manually. Please follow the recommended steps carefully, and be sure to create a system restore point beforehand. This ensures you can safely revert any changes if needed.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/system-protection-e9126e6e-fa64-4f5f-874d-9db90e57645a

    Follow the instructions.

    1. Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

    1. Right-click "Internet", select "New" and click "DWORD (32-bit) Value";
    2. Type EnableActiveProbing as the value name and press Enter;
    3. Right-click on "EnableActiveProbing" and then select "Modify";
    4. In the "Value data" box, type 1 and then click Ok;
    5. Close Registry Editor;
    6. Restart your PC.

    If the problem persists, please let me know.

    Feel free to ask back any questions.
