except, my question is - How do I switch it so I can enter responses on the form myself? It always defaults me to my editor view. I can switch it 2 respondant once, but whenever I try and safe the link on my phone for future usage, it always opens in Editor view again

    Hi Brad Mcleod,

First, as I understand it, your issue is this: When you save a Microsoft Forms link to your phone, it consistently opens in Editor view instead of Respondent view, even though you want to fill out the form yourself.

Is my understanding correct? If not, I would be very grateful if you could provide additional details.

To help me assist you better, could you clarify something for me? When you save the link on your phone, is it:

    • The direct form link you see when you're creating/editing the form (e.g., the link in your browser's address bar)?
    • Or is it the link you get after clicking on "Collect responses" and then copying it from there?

I've tried testing this on my end as well. When I create a form on the web:

    • If I get the link from the "Collect responses" section, when I open that link, I'll be in respondent mode.

    • However, if I take the link directly from the browser's address bar while I'm editing the form, when I open that link, I'll be in editor mode.

Looking forward to your reply so we can figure this out! Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue right away. But with your help and a bit more detail, I'll try my best to help you.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Jeanie

    Thanks for the response

You are almost there. When I do what you list above it opens in Respondant mode fine, no matter what way I get to it, QR code, link etc.

The issue is when I save that page from Chrome as a link on my phone via the 'Add to home screen' button, it will always default back to editor view, even when I am saving the forms/...../response link. I can not figure out how to get it not to open the edit link, but instead open the link i have actually loaded.

It doesn't make sense to me that there isn't just a feature saying would you now like to respond to the form you have created and the ability to create a link to that???

    Hi Brad Mcleod,

I understand. On my Android phone, using Chrome, when I save the “Collect Responses” link by choosing Add to Home Screen, then tap that shortcut, it opens the main screen of the Microsoft Forms app. After signing in with the account I used to create the form and tapping the form, it shows the editable version of the form I created.

    Have you experienced similar?

Instead of saving the link as a regular shortcut, it seems to treat it like an app shortcut and opens the form in edit mode.

I also tried switching to Preview mode (the eye icon), and from there I was able to submit 5 responses. Since this is the Microsoft Forms account that created the form, it defaults to edit mode unless I manually switch to Preview.
I have downloaded and use Microsoft Edge, so when I copy the response link into Microsoft Edge > add to home screen > then when I open it, it will open the collect response link. Could you please help me try this?

    Sincerely,

    Hi Brad Mcleod,

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to follow up on trying to use Microsoft Edge in case you had a chance to take a look.

No rush at all, please feel free to get back to me whenever it's convenient for you. I'm happy to assist if you have any questions or need further information.

    Sincerely,

    Hi

Unfortunately nothing has yet resolved the issue. I have tried both Edge and Brave and when I save the /r/ version of the form, it always opens the Forms homepage, rather than the Edit or Response view, whcih is perhaps even weirder.

I am still confused as to how Forms thinks the person who makes the form will never want to fill it out and there isn't the ability to swap between the two and have them as different for the creator.
