My windows 7 computer cannot connect to internet but the internet works. I tried completely shutting down the computer and reseting the modem several times, but it didn't work. Other computers work with internet, but the windows 7 computer won't connect anymore. Is there anything that can be done?

    Hi Ef777 ,

specify the make and model of your computer and how you connect to the internet, via LAN or WiFi.

Is the WiFi network detected by the pc? Run the troubleshooter and report the Windows error message or post a screrenhot.

Is the wireless light on your laptop (#4 in the picture below) white, amber, or off?

Which, if any, of the following icons is in the Notification Area (lower right, near the time display)? If you don't see any of these icons, click the up-pointing arrow to show hidden icons and see if one of the icons below is shown there.

If you see one of the above icons other than the one for the HP Connection Manager, right-click it and select "Open Network and Sharing Center. Take and post a screenshot of the Network and Sharing Center. See these directions: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/feedback/forum/fdbk_commsite-fdbk_getstart/how-to-include-a-screenshot-in-your-post/2594b08e-32a3-476a-85a6-b021181be7e4

Please report the results of following this diagnostic procedure:

On the Windows 7 computer, open a Command Prompt window (type cmd in the Search box and press Enter)

    1. In the black Command Prompt window, type the following and press Enter after each line

    ipconfig /all > "%userprofile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt"

    exit

    1. Connect a USB flashdrive to the Windows 7 computer
      • copy the file ipinfo.txt from the Desktop of the Windows 7 computer to the flashdrive
      • eject (safely remove) the flashdrive from the Windows 7 computer
      • connect the flashdrive to whatever computer you use to ask you question here
      • use Windows Explorer (the file manager, not the web browser) to find ipinfo.txt on the flashdrive, then double-click it to open the file in Notepad
    2. In the open Notepad window, click Edit > Select All (or press CTRL+A) then click Edit > Copy (or press Ctrl+C)
    3. In the body of your Reply here, Right-click > Paste (or press CTRL+V) the data from the Notepad window
    4. Close Notepad and delete ipinfo.txt from the flashdrive and from the Desktop of the Windows 7 computer
