Delete ComponentModelCache
Repair VS 2022
Re-Install VS 2022
Format the machine and re-install VS 2022

I get this non-stop, to the point of making VS nearly unusable. I am on the latest builds of both the pre-release (17.12.0 Preview 2.1) and the release branch (17.11.4), and if anything it has gotten worse as I've upgraded.

To resolve the issue I set "Run background code analysis for" to "None".

It’s not the real solution, because it doesn’t analyze more in background, but at least it didn’t give me more problems.

Same problem here, running VS 2022 v17.13.6 on a Dell Inspiron laptop with a Core 7 150U processor and 32GB memory - all Dell and Win 11 updates applied. We have tried:

Repairing VS

Uninstalling / reinstalling VS

Cleaning the cache

Setting 'run background code analysis for' to 'none'

Despite this, the issue is happening several times a day, but only for one of our devs. Is a laptop of this spec just not up to running VS?

It seems to be an issue in larger codebases.
It's like it's not managing the workload properly and tasks are just timing out in a queue as a result.

I believe this to be the root cause of BSOD's in my case.

No one has mentioned Burst, but I found that was the cause of my issue.

Now I have a niche setup, because I'm opening decompiled C# code for a video game, but all I had to do to get Visual Studio to stop hanging after a minute was delete the Burst Attributes from the Properties/AssemblyInfo.cs. I'm certainly not re-compiling this code so it's no problem for me but that was the root cause, as the previous game version worked fine which didn't use Burst.

The only step I haven’t tried is a reformat… but it’s getting close.

this issue still persists and seem to be getting worse with the copilot updates.
