The default indexer configuration does not allow for more than 30 million items per index column, and indexing more than 15 million items per index column will adversely affect indexing and query performance.
For scenarios with low content update rates and moderate query volume it may be desired to index more items per column in order to save hardware cost. This section describes how to configure the indexer to handle up to 40 million items per column.
