The 2025 release wave 1 plan covers all new functionalities planned to be delivered to market from April 2025 to September 2025. In this article, you'll find the product overview and what's new and planned for AI Builder.
Overview
The latest AI Builder release enhances content and decision intelligence with advanced capabilities in document processing and prompt engineering that are integrated in Copilot Studio. The document processing agent streamlines content intelligence by providing a ready-to-use data agent specialized in document processing. With this agent, you can monitor, validate, and control your document processing workflows at scale. Advanced capabilities in the prompt builder give you new tools to extend and customize AI actions. New features include the ability to diversify the sets of inputs and data sources that maker prompts can process. In addition, you can generate diverse content types, including documents, going beyond text and JSON formatting.

Investment areas
AI governance and administration
Governance and administration cover the key sets of themes that allow admins to deploy and monitor AI activities:
- Capacity management
- Usage monitoring
- Application lifecycle management
- Access control
- Sharing and deploying AI models and prompts
Build intelligent solutions with AI capabilities
This area covers all AI model capabilities that new available to makers to build more intelligent solutions with AI. It includes expanding the breadth of AI capabilities and the integration surfaces across Microsoft where AI Builder is available.
Extend copilot capabilities with AI
Copilot helps business users become more productive and satisfied at work. To truly transform the workplace, Copilot needs to work within the specific context of each enterprise.
You can create topics by using natural language to describe what you want your topic to do. Copilot includes conversational responses that you can use as a starting point for further development. For example, you can add Dataverse data records to your GPT prompts so users can get insights. You can also interact with documents directly from the Copilot tools. This interaction lets you quickly extract key learning points from documents. Copilot also generates new document templates to boost productivity.
Intelligent document and email processing
Documents can be structured, like invoices, or unstructured, like resumes. Automating data extraction from documents speeds up tedious manual processes and reduces the risk of errors. With AI Builder, an AI model extracts content through a controlled process where you specify which fields to capture. You refine the system with feedback and human review for quality assurance.
As AI capabilities advance, customizing an AI model to understand specific documents becomes easier. AI Builder simplifies setting up intelligent document processing pipelines by providing the best and latest document processing models from Azure AI. It also reduces the need for model training by using generative AI capabilities.
Prompt builder
Prompt builder is AI Builder's new interface that you use to build, test, and deploy generative AI prompts for large language models. Prompts are instructions that you send to generative AI models to accomplish a task. Use prompts to perform a wide range of scenarios, like content generation, content classification, insight generation, or information extraction.
When you create a prompt, use it across multiple Power Platform products to bring generative AI capabilities to every business solution you build, whether it's a copilot, an app, a flow, or a Microsoft Dataverse table. Prompts are also solution-aware components that Power Fx expressions trigger. With this approach, you can reuse and deploy prompts across your different low-code components.
