Business value

Cloud flows you define in Dataverse solutions simplify administration and application lifecycle for customers by allowing admins to use concepts like environment variables, connection references, and solutions. These cloud flows also help deliver great maker experiences, such as saving flows as drafts, publishing flows, and versioning flows.

Feature details

When you add cloud flows to Dataverse solutions, you get many benefits. You can use features like environment variables and solutions that simplify deploying across environments. Solutions also provide a natural grouping that makes it easier to organize and manage many flows. Defining flows in Dataverse unlocks new functionality, such as support for drafts and versioning and cloud flow run history in Dataverse.

Currently, cloud flows default to creation outside of solutions in Dataverse. With this change, Power Platform administrators can choose whether to create cloud flows in solutions in Dataverse by default for each environment.

Turn on this feature with the following steps:

  1. Sign in to the Power Platform admin center and select an environment.
  2. Go to Settings > Product > Features.
  3. Under Create new canvas apps and cloud flows in Dataverse solutions, turn on Cloud flows.

To add flows to solutions, use Solution explorer to add an existing flow to a solution, or use PowerShell to add many cloud flows into solutions.
