Overview

Microsoft Power Apps is the leading low-code application development platform that supports Dynamics 365 extensibility, Microsoft 365 customization, and a standalone custom line of business applications for customers worldwide. Power Apps dramatically lowers the cost, complexity, and time of software development through copilot-assisted development, powerful low-code development tools, a robust and secure data platform in Microsoft Dataverse, and thousands of connectors to common business data sources.

Power Apps is investing in several areas as part of Microsoft Power Platform 2024 release wave 2:

  • Copilot for makers and users brings the power of AI and natural language to building apps faster. Bring AI to your own apps to enable users to reason and gain insights from data.
  • Build modern apps quickly and easily with modern controls, simplified responsive layouts, and collaboration capabilities for users.
  • Enable enterprise scale for makers and admins to build and scale apps across the entire organization with improved guardrails and tools that ensure greater quality.

Investment areas

Building modern apps
Power Apps is rolling out updates that modernize apps by default. These updates boost developer productivity and user satisfaction. With these updates, developers can use modern controls, responsive templates, and offline apps by default. Users get a refreshed and modernized interface, simpler sharing options, and better collaboration tools.

Copilot for Power Apps makers and users
With Copilot, both makers and users can use AI and natural language to speed up app development and add AI to existing apps for better data analysis. Makers can use copilots to create and change apps, work with data, and improve functionality. Users can use natural language to explore data and navigate apps, making the user experience better.

Enable enterprise scale
Power Apps constantly enhances its features for makers and administrators. These enhancements make it easier to implement low-code solutions at the enterprise level. Power Apps Studio updates its monitoring and code management tools to better support makers who work on larger, more complex apps. With these improvements, makers and administrators get better visibility and control over their solutions and environment routing.
