Why exams and assessment labs are retired
Technology changes faster every year. To keep our credentialing program relevant, we continually review our Applied Skills scenarios and Certifications to ensure they reflect the latest skills and Microsoft technologies and retire those that are no longer relevant. Our goal is to empower candidates to be on the leading edge of tech by allowing them to validate real-world relevant skills needed to solve critical business problems and perform job roles that are needed for organizations to achieve their digital transformation goals.
What to expect when an exam or assessment lab is retired
If you’re currently preparing for an exam or assessment lab that will be retired, we strongly recommend that you take the exam or assessment lab before the retirement date. You won’t be able to take these exams, assessment labs, or earn the associated certification or credential after that date.
If you’ve already earned the certification or Applied Skills, it will stay on the transcript in your profile on Microsoft Learn. If you’re eligible to renew your certification before the retirement date, we recommend that you consider doing so; you will not have an option to do so after the certification retires.
For Microsoft Partners, those who have earned any of the eligible certifications or Applied Skills before they retire will continue to earn points or credit toward Partner requirements for one year after the retirement date. New certifications or Applied Skills credentials may be added to the Partner Program requirements. These changes will be shared with partners when additional details are available.
