Cause
This event is thrown when one or more of the following conditions exists:
- Motherboard features controlled by the BIOS are not compatible with Windows 7
- You have disabled “Speedstep” in your EVGA BIOS
- Several support forums indicate that this problem started after installing Vista Service Pack 1 and the KB940510 and KB936330 hotfixes. Some users say that if those 2 hotfixes are not installed the problem is not happening anymore. To install only selective hotfixes you have to do the Windows update manually instead of having them automatically downloaded and installed.
User Action
- Update the BIOS firmware for the motherboard
- If your motherboard supports Speedstep, make sure Speedstep is enabled.
- Check with your hardware manufacturer to determine if there are known compatibility issues with Windows 7.
- Try disabling processor power management features.
