How NOT to get out of traveling

At the end of April, I tore my Achillles tendon. I had surgery the next week, and have been in a cast for the last month. Still looking at 3 more weeks before this cast is removed, then I might get another one after that, followed by endless physical therapy...  

It also happened 3 days before I was to leave town on an extended engagement.

I know one of the responsibilites of this job is to be available for travel. Now, I know many poeple have ways to get out of it, but this method is NOT recommended!
