Often, we need to change the login information for the SharePoint Administrator. Here are just a few points to follow during that process:
- Change the logon information (username/password) for all SharePoint related services [Windows SharePoint Services Timer, (if using search) Windows SharePoint Services Search, Office SharePoint Server Search] and any other services running with the account being modified
- Restart all services
- Change the logon information for all application pool in IIS running under the account being modified
- iisreset
- If this error occurrs in eventlog "the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this machine, logon type 4", do the following: Give the account the logon as a batch right - which is what the logon type: 4 is referring to in the event log message. You can do this via local security policy on the server.
- If this error is shown on a SharePoint page "Some or all identity references could not be translated", do the following: "stsadm.exe -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin -password "
