Lets start off by making sure we have Visual Studio and the Visual Studio Authoring extensions installed.
Note
Visual Studio 2015 is NOT supported (as of August 2015) but Microsoft have released a Community Edition of Visual Studio 2013 which works with the Authoring extensions.
Make sure you read and abide by the licensing but the community Edition does work (despite the official documentation stating you need Visual Studio 2013 Professional or Ultimate).
Download links for Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition and SCOM Authoring extensions.

Install both and we're ready to start.
