One of the new features in Windows Server 2008 was the new Active Directory® Domain Services (AD DS) auditing. This gave us a new audit subcategory to log old and new values when changes are made to objects and their attributes.
One of the things I get asked for by customers is a comprehensive list of the Security Event descriptions.
Well, wait no more! For Windows Server 2008 R2 (and Windows 7), you can download a handy Excel spreadsheet that includes this information.
It can be found at Security Audit Events for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 on Microsoft Downloads.
FYI. The format of the spreadsheet is .xls. So, you do not have to open the file in Office 2007.
