Training: Instruction to develop new skills.
Azure free credits and startup credits have fixed validity periods and cannot be extended.
For an Azure free account:
- The initial $200 credit is valid only for the first 30 days after sign-up. Any unused portion expires at the end of that 30-day period and is lost; it cannot be extended or reissued.
- After upgrading to pay-as-you-go, any remaining free credit from that initial 30-day window remains usable only until the original 30-day end date. After that, only the 12‑month and always‑free services remain free within their limits; all other usage is billed at pay‑as‑you‑go rates.
For startup credits:
- Startup credits also have fixed expiration windows (for example, 90 days after initial redemption or 180 days after verification), and the documentation explicitly states that expiration periods cannot be extended.
To continue learning while minimizing cost after credits expire:
- Stay strictly within the free service limits of the Azure free account (for example, the specified free VM SKUs and storage amounts).
- Use the Azure Pricing Calculator to estimate costs and set budgets/alerts in Cost Management to avoid unexpected charges.
If there are concerns about billing or unexpected charges, a free billing support request can be opened from the Azure portal (Help + Support) to review the subscription, but support cannot extend the official credit validity period.
