Read Fabric Capacity Metric Semantic Model Using Data Agent

Currently, I am exploring the Fabric Capacity Metrics semantic model. I want to read the semantic model using Fabric Data Agent. However, the Data Agent indicates that the Timepoint Interactive Detail table in the semantic model is empty, even though I can see the data in the Fabric Capacity Metrics dashboard. How can I enable the Data Agent to read the data?

    Hello @Aurillya Queency ,

It sounds like you're having an issue with your Fabric Data Agent not being able to read data from the Timepoint Interactive Detail table in the Fabric Capacity Metrics semantic model, even though the data is visible on the dashboard. Here are a few things you can check to troubleshoot this:

Ensure Setup Is Correct: Confirm that your Fabric Data Agent is properly configured. Double-check that you have a compatible data source configured, such as a warehouse, lakehouse, or Power BI semantic models.

Permissions: Make sure that the Data Agent has read permissions on the data source you’re trying to access. If you’re using Power BI semantic models, ensure that the XMLA endpoints are enabled for those models.

Tenant Settings: Validate that the necessary Fabric Data Agent tenant settings are enabled, including:

    • Cross-geo processing for AI
      • Cross-geo storing for AI
        • Power BI semantic models via XMLA endpoints tenant switch
Capacity and Performance: Check that you're not running into any capacity limits or performance issues. If your Fabric capacity is maxed out, it may not be able to grab the data correctly. Version and Updates: Make sure you are using the latest version of the Fabric Data Agent. Sometimes updates fix bugs that could be causing issues.

If you've gone through these potential issues and it's still not working, I would suggest gathering a bit more information:

    • What version of the Fabric Data Agent are you using?
    • Are there any error messages displayed when you attempt to read the data?
    • Can you confirm that other tables in the same semantic model are accessible through the Data Agent?
    • Have you checked the configurations and permissions for the data source you're using?

Hope this helps, and let me know if you need further assistance or clarity on any of these points!

To enable the Fabric Data Agent to read the data from the Timepoint Interactive Detail table in the Fabric Capacity Metrics semantic model, ensure that the following prerequisites and configurations are met:

    1. Data Source Configuration: Verify that the Fabric Data Agent is correctly configured to include the Fabric Capacity Metrics semantic model as one of its data sources. You can add it by selecting the appropriate data source during the setup of the data agent.
    2. Permissions: Check that you have the necessary permissions to access the data within the semantic model. If permissions are restricted, the Data Agent may not be able to retrieve the data.
    3. Data Visibility: Ensure that the data in the Timepoint Interactive Detail table is not filtered out or restricted in any way within the semantic model. Sometimes, data visibility settings can prevent certain data from being accessed.
    4. Cross-geo Settings: Make sure that the cross-geo processing and storing settings are enabled in the Fabric data agent tenant settings, as these can affect data accessibility.
    5. Data Agent Instructions: Consider adding specific instructions to the Fabric Data Agent that guide it on how to handle queries related to the Timepoint Interactive Detail table. This can help improve its ability to retrieve relevant data.

If all configurations are correct and the issue persists, it may be beneficial to consult the documentation or support resources for further troubleshooting steps.
