You can try these steps to fix it.
- Restart Your Laptop
- A full shutdown (not just restart) can sometimes clear the error.
- Reinstall the Touchpad Driver
- Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
- Find the Surface Touchpad Device under "Human Interface Devices" or "Mice and other pointing devices".
- Right-click it and choose Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
- Update the Driver Manually
- Visit the official surface driver website and download the latest firmware and drivers.
- Install them and restart your device.
- Disable Power Management for Touchpad
- In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad device > Properties >Power Management tab.
- Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
- Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit
- Microsoft offers a tool that can automatically detect and fix issues with Surface devices. You can download it from their official site.
