@RP,
Since you're getting that VM error when launching LockDown Browser on your Surface Laptop 2, here’s what you can try.
First, make sure your antivirus isn’t causing the issue some of them use virtual environments that LockDown Browser might mistake for a VM. Try temporarily turning off your antivirus and see if that helps.
Next, check if there are any leftover virtual machine drivers from previous use. Go to Device Manager and look for anything labeled “Virtual” under display, network, or system devices. If you find any, uninstall them.
Also, make sure LockDown Browser is allowed through your firewall. Go to Control Panel >Windows Defender Firewall, and make sure it’s checked for both private and public networks.
Lastly, since they mentioned BIOS settings, you can reset your Surface Laptop’s BIOS to factory defaults. Just shut it down, hold the Volume Up button, then press and release the Power button. When the Surface logo appears, let go of Volume Up. You’ll enter the UEFI screen look for an option like “Reset to Default” or “Load Setup Defaults,” save, and exit.
