Unable to Access Azure Portal Due to Missing Authenticator App

Hi @Praveen Chivarla ,

I’m currently locked out of the Azure portal due to a missing Microsoft Authenticator app. Here's the situation:

  • I can successfully log in to my Microsoft account via https://account.microsoft.com/security?lang=en-GB#main-content-landing-react.
  • However, when I try to access the Azure portal, it prompts me for an Authenticator code.
  • I had previously set up MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator app, but I’ve since removed the app from my phone and no longer have access to it.
  • I don’t have any backup method (SMS, email, etc.) configured for MFA.

I’m unable to proceed past the MFA prompt and need help recovering access to my Azure portal. I’m not part of an organisation tenant—this is a personal Microsoft account.

Could someone guide me on how to reset MFA or bypass the Authenticator requirement so I can regain access?

Thanks in advance!

    Hello Sajad Motref Bazghale,

The issue pertains to a tenant lockout, where no other global admin in the tenant has the necessary permissions to re-register MFA.

To resolve this, we have engaged our Data Protection team through a support ticket. They will reach out to you via email or phone to help restore access to the tenant and assist in resolving the issue.

Once the issue has been resolved by our support team, please feel free to revisit and kindly click "Accept Answer," as this will be helpful to other community members facing similar issues.
