All of my edge passwords have disappeared. My computer defaulted to only showing profiles, even though sync etc is enabled. After signing out and back in, now it will save new passwords but all the old ones have disappeared. Even on my old computer, which had easy access to thousands of passwords, it is now not showing them either. I did nothing I am aware of in terms of accounts or changing anything, this just seems to have happened on its own. How could this happen and how can I recover my passwords-I have gone into credentials and don't see anything there either

    Hello Tony,

This is April, I'll be happy to assist you. Sorry to hear that you're having issue with Microsoft Edge password. Let me help you out.

Based on the description of your issue, your saved passwords have disappeared. Possible causes are:

    1. Signed in to Different Microsoft account
    2. Sync Conflict or Reset
    3. Profile Corrupted or Switch
    4. Passwords were not synced before
    5. Malware

Here are the steps that you may try to recover your passwords:

    1. Check Microsoft Account password Vault
    2. Recover an Old Page profile (If local back up exists)
      • Go to the following location: C:\Users[Your Name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default
      • Back up the folder
      • Inside that folder, look for these files: Login Data - this contain your saved passwords Login Data-Journal - recent changes
      • These files are encrypted, but if copied into a new profile on the same Window user account and computer, Edge can usually read them.
    3. System Restore (Windows) - if the issue started recently, you might be able to roll back your system:
      • Go to Start Menu > Search "System Restore"
      • Choose a restore point dated before your passwords went missing
      • This will restore app data, including Edge profile files.
      • This will only work if Windows had created a restore point before the data was lost.
    4. Check Windows Credential Manager
      • Open Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager
      • Look under the "Web Credentials" section to see if any login information is saved there.

If you need more help, please don’t hesitate to contact us again. We’re here to help, and we appreciate your continued trust in us.

    Warm Regards,

    April P.
