Hi,

My Microsoft Excel has crashed twice in the past two months, and nothing I've tried has been able to fix it. I have attempted every method available online and through ChatGPT, but none have resolved the issue. The only solution that works is to erase the entire macOS and reinstall everything from scratch, which is very time-consuming.

Hi Teo, this is Kimberly. I'm glad to assist you today.

This looks like a deadlock between Excel’s notification-handling code and macOS Sequoia’s notification/XPC system, not a corrupted preference or workbook issue. That’s why your only fix so far has been wiping macOS, you’re resetting all background services and caches Excel interacts with.

Try this before another full macOS wipe

    Reset macOS Notification Center data

    Quit Excel.

    In Terminal:

    killall NotificationCenter

    rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ncprefs.plist

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/NotificationCenter/*

    Then log out/in or restart.

Should you have more questions, please let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
