Dear @Donkey Kong,
Good day! Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may encounter when using our services/ products. Based on your description, kindly try these following steps:
1. Check Your Windows Edition
The Media Feature Pack is only needed for “N” editions of Windows 10/11. These versions lack media components due to European regulations.
- Go to Settings > System > About
- Look for your edition. If it says Windows 10/11 N, you need to install the Media Feature Pack manually.
- If it’s not an N edition, the Media Feature Pack is already included and cannot be added separately.
2. Enable Media Features in Control Panel
Even if you don’t see the Media Feature Pack in Settings, it might be hidden due to system settings.
- Open Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off
- Scroll to Media Features
- Make sure Windows Media Player is checked
- Click OK and restart your PC
3. Use Administrator Privileges
Some users report that the Media Feature Pack only appears when logged in as an administrator.
- Press Windows + R, type netplwiz, and press Enter
- Double-click your account > Select Administrator, save changes, and restart your PC.
4. Manual Download (if all else fails)
If none of the above works, you can manually download the Media Feature Pack from Microsoft’s official site:
