Can't connect to Wifi

All of a sudden I can't connect to Wifi. The tray just has the globe with the crossed out circle. When I click on it, I don't have an option for wifi connectability, airplane mode, etc. The only three options are volume, night light, and accessibility. I've done the following:

-restarted the computer and router

-tried two different wifi USB's (the network adaptor is listed and said it was enabled)

-enabled/disabled and checked for updated drivers for the USB

-reset the network

It also says that an ethernet cord is unplugged. We don't use an ethernet cable - it's just the USB (plugged into 3.0). It worked for months and then suddenly everything is gone. Any suggestions?

    When was the last time it worked properly? Are you using a Wireless USB Adapter? If so, please try it on another device and see if the issue persists.

    Please let me know if you have tried the methods below.

    • Please try connecting it to another USB port.
    • Shutdown your computer

    Unplug the power cable from the computer for 30 minutes, then plug it in again and turn on.

    • Please try to Turn off Fast Startup

    Press Start then search Control panel

    Under View by > select Small icons

    Select Power Options

    On the left side, click "Choose what power buttons do"

    Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable"

    Under Shutdown settings > Turn off fast startup

    Power off the system then pull the power cable from the laptop, wait for 15 minutes.

    Power back on

    Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.

    If the issue persists, what is the exact make and model of your computer?

    Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: msinfo32

    Press Enter

    Based on your description, it sounds like Windows may not be recognizing the wireless networking stack properly, despite the USB adapter being enabled.

    Here are a few suggestions to try next:

    Check Services: Open services.msc and confirm that the “WLAN AutoConfig” service is running. If it's stopped, start it and set it to automatic.

    Device Manager Review: Ensure the USB adapter is listed under “Network adapters” without any warning icons. If it appears under “Other devices,” reinstall the driver manually.

    Try a Different USB Port: Even though it’s plugged into a 3.0 port, switching ports can help rule out power or recognition issues.

    System File Check: Run sfc /scannow from an elevated Command Prompt to check for corrupted system files.

    Network Profile Reset: If not already done, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network Reset and reboot.
