    Hello Leigh,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community! I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with missing emails, but I’m here to help you get this sorted out.

I suggest to Logging In via Web Browser, Log into Outlook Web App to see if your emails appear there. This helps determine if the issue is device specific.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en/microsoft-365/outlook/web-email-login-for-outlook

If you're able to log in to Outlook on the web but still can't find your emails, no worries just follow the steps below to help troubleshoot the issue:

Sync Issues on Devices sometimes, sync issues can cause emails to disappear:

On your Mac: Open Outlook then select Preferences select Accounts then select your account Click “Advanced” then hit the Check sync settings.

On your iPhone: Go to Settings then select Mail then select Accounts then Select your account then select Toggle Mail off and on.

    -

Recover Deleted Emails If emails were accidentally deleted:

     Go to Deleted Items folder

Scroll to the bottom and click “Recover items recently removed from this folder”.

If none of these steps work, it would be helpful if you could share any error messages or a screenshot that way, we can better identify what's going on. And if you have any questions, feel free to reply to this thread. I'm here to help.

    Kind Regards,

    John Oli

Who is your email provider? If you are unsure what is the part of your address after the @ sign?

First, verify the messages are in webmail. If they are not in the inbox, are they in the deleted items or trash folder? (If they are gone, it's likely your account was hacked. )

If the messages are on the server, remove the account from Outlook and add it back. If you are using an IMAP (or POP) account, after entering the address and Outlook finds it, click the text link to add the account as an IMAP account. This will make a direct connection to the server, instead of using the Microsoft cloud.

The Outlook app on the phone won't have this option - it will always use the Microsoft cloud.

Hi thanks for the response. So I was on my email as usual, then about 30 minutes later when on again and there was only 1 email in my inbox, all of the others were not there. My folders still have the emails that I put in them, but nothing in my inbox. I do not know where they went. my I cloud storage still has room, as I pay monthly fee for this. I am looking for a number to phone, but can't find any.

Microsoft doesn't take phone calls. You could use the chat system, or (assuming it is an outlook.com address) contact support though the outlook.com website.

In Outlook on the web. Click on Help tab > Help and type in some search terms. Then at the bottom, click Yes button for Still need help.

    But first -

Was your account hacked? Hackers will often delete mail from the inbox after gaining entry. Check the recent activity at https://account.live.com/Activity - if there is any you don't recognize, the account was probably hacked.

Did you look for the messages in the deleted items folder or recovery folder at the top of the deleted items?

    If the account was hacked:

Hackers will often create rules to forward mail so they can still monitor your mailbox after you change the password. When their mailbox is full or the host closes the account, you'll get a bounce message.

Check for rules or forwarding in Outlook.com's Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Mail - under Rules and also under Forwarding. Delete any you did not create.
