Linda, try pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, find Windows Explorer, right-click it, and choose Restart. If that doesn’t help, in Task Manager click File then Run new task, type ms-settings:troubleshoot, press Enter, and run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter to repair the Start menu and search.
