Title:
Increase RAM Allocation in Xbox Developer Mode from 5GB to 8–10GB
Details:
Hello Microsoft Xbox Developer Team,
I would like to request an increase in the RAM allocation for Xbox Developer Mode. Currently, Dev Mode limits available RAM to approximately 5GB, which significantly restricts the performance of certain development projects, particularly emulation-based applications such as PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Switch emulators.
Technical context:
Xbox Series S hardware features 10GB of GDDR6 RAM, with approximately 8GB typically available to games.
Xbox Series X hardware features 16GB of GDDR6 RAM, with approximately 13GB typically available to games.
In Developer Mode, only about 5GB is accessible for applications, while the rest remains reserved for the system.
Modern Xbox hardware can comfortably allocate more than 5GB to developer applications without compromising core OS stability. Increasing the available RAM in Dev Mode to 8–10GB would:
Allow more complex applications and games to run smoothly.
Improve performance and stability for emulation and other high-memory-use scenarios.
Encourage more developers, hobbyists, and researchers to experiment and innovate on Xbox hardware.
This change would be greatly appreciated by the developer community and would further demonstrate Microsoft’s commitment to supporting open development and innovation on the Xbox platform.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
[Hasan yücel]
