Hello Jaden Tang!
Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft QnA!
Since you are using graphics files which are considered non-office files for purview hence, sensitivity labels on non-Office file types rely on the Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) unified labeling client and policy settings to expose manual classification dialogs in File Explorer or supported applications. If the client is not installed, policy does not explicitly allow overrides, or the file extensions aren’t included in the policy, end users will have no mechanism to change labels on these graphic files.
You can try following steps to resolve your issue
GUI (Microsoft Purview Compliance Center & File Explorer)
- Verify Policy Configuration
- Sign in to the Microsoft Purview compliance portal: https://compliance.microsoft.com
- Navigate to Information protection > Labels > Auto-labeling policies.
- Open your policy and ensure your graphic file extensions (.dwg, .sldprt, .step, .slddrw) are explicitly included under “File types.”
- Under “Actions,” make sure “Users can override this label” is enabled or “Require justification for downgrade.”
- Install the MIP Unified Labeling Client (You can download the Microsoft Purview Information Protection client from the Microsoft Download Center.)
- On each user machine, download and install the latest MIP Unified Labeling client from https://aka.ms/MIPClientDownload
- Restart the machine after installation.
- Manually Change Label in File Explorer
- In Windows File Explorer, right-click the graphic file > Classify and protect.
- Select a new label from the list (e.g., “General” or “Public”) and click Apply.
- If prompted for justification, enter one.
