How do you open a new banner calendar for 2026 since there is no longer a pop-up to change the year?

Unfortunately, users cannot adjust the months and years when creating a Banner Calendar in Word anymore. I understand that this feature change brings inconvenience on your part as a frequently users.

In the meantime, you may consider using these workarounds: 

Option 1: Manually Update the 2025 Banner Calendar to 2026  

1. Open Word and create the Banner Calendar as usual: File > New > Search for "Banner Calendar" > Select the template > Create. This generates the 2025 version. 
2. Change the year text: The year (e.g., "2025") is plain text, double-click it and type "2026". 
3. Update the months and dates:  
   • Each month is a table. Click inside a month's table to select it. 
     • Edit the weekday row if needed (e.g., shift "Sun Mon Tue..." to match 2026's starting day). 
       • Manually change the date numbers: Delete/add cells as needed (right-click a cell > Insert/Delete > Cells). For example, if January 2025 starts on Wed, but 2026 on Thu, shift all dates right by one cell and adjust the numbers (Jan 1 becomes Thu, etc.). 
         • Repeat for all 12 months. Use Word's table tools (Layout tab under Table Tools) to resize or format as you go. 
         1. Save the file: File > Save As > Choose a name and location. 

This preserves the banner layout but requires careful editing to avoid misalignment. If your document is large, work month-by-month and use Undo (Ctrl+Z) liberally. 

Option 2: Use a Different Built-in Template That Supports Year Changes 

1. Go to File > New > Search for "calendar" (or specifically "Family Photo Calendar" or "Any Year Calendar"). 
2. Select a template where the thumbnail or description mentions "any year" or configurable dates (e.g., Family Photo Calendar). 
3. Click Create, this may prompt for a year or add a Calendar tab to the ribbon. 
4. In the Calendar tab (if available): Click "Select New Dates" > Choose 2026 as the year > OK. This auto-updates all dates. 
5. Customize to mimic a banner style: Adjust layout (e.g., rotate tables horizontally via Layout > Orientation > Landscape), change fonts/colors, or add banners via Insert > Shapes/Text Boxes. 
6. Save the file. 

Option 3: Download a Free 2026 Banner-Style Calendar Template 

If manual editing is too time-consuming, download a pre-made 2026 template in Word format from trusted sites.
