Microsoft Teams Not Recognizing Bluetooth or Wired Headset

Hi community,

I updated to a new phone (Pixel 9a from a Pixel 6a), and Microsoft Teams for my work is not recognizing my Bluetooth earbuds. They are clearly connected and they handle the audio for all other apps including phone calls, but they don't appear as an audio option in Teams. Sometimes if I disconnect/reconnect the earbuds or turn Bluetooth off/on while on a call, it will then pick up the audio, but not often.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Teams from the Play Store, confirmed it has all the necessary permissions, etc. I have also tried forgetting my earbuds completely and re-pairing them to my phone. Nothing has worked.

Even when connecting wired earbuds, my 'Device' connection will change to 'Headset', but Teams (and only Teams) does not send the audio through the wired earbuds.

Any suggestions I haven't tried yet would be fantastic and really appreciated. It's annoying having to have my calls on speakerphone.

    Hi @J Coop,

Good day to you! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Regarding to your description, I would recommend trying the following steps

    1. Check if your headphones are connected to multiple devices simultaneously, as some Bluetooth headsets have limitations on maintaining several active connections at once.
    2. Reset the headset regarding to the manufacturer's manual
    3. Clear teams cache
      1. Go to Settings > Apps > Microsoft Teams.
      2. Tap Storage > Clear Cache.
      3. Restart Teams and check if the issue is resolved.
    4. Check system update
    5. Disable Battery Optimization for Teams
      1. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization.
      2. Find Microsoft Teams in the list.
      3. Set it to Not Optimized.

If you have any further questions and concerns, please let me know. Looking forward to your response.
