Is there a full comprehensible list of AI apps that work with MS Purview? (including Web based)

I used google to try to find this, but it only gave me a few options.

My issue is if a department wants to use another option other than Co-Pilot I would like to have a list of compatible AI options, Enterprise, Web Based....etc

    Hi Mark Sannuti (C-Admin)

Thanks for raising this, it's a great question.

As of now, Microsoft does not maintain a single comprehensive public list of all third-party AI apps that integrate with Microsoft Purview, especially for features like Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, or Insider Risk.

However, here are a few key points to guide your exploration:

    Native Microsoft AI Integrations

Microsoft Copilot (M365, Security, or Purview) integrates deeply and natively with Purview for secure use of sensitive data.

Microsoft Security Copilot inherits sensitivity labels and DLP policies from Purview for responsible data usage during AI interactions.

Third-Party AI & Web App Controls

Purview allows governance over third-party AI tools, even if not formally integrated, through Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MDCA)** and **Endpoint DLP:

    • You can monitor, restrict, or allow AI web-based tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Bard, Perplexity, and others using Cloud App Discovery or Custom App Control.
    • Many of these apps show up as "AI" under category filters in Defender for Cloud Apps.

    API & Extension Options

If a department wants to use a specific enterprise-grade AI tool (e.g., Cohere, Jasper, Writer, or Azure OpenAI custom solutions), they can be governed by:

    • Purview Sensitivity Labels & DLP, if accessed through Microsoft 365 or Azure-based apps.
    • Endpoint DLP policies, if run from user desktops or browsers.
    • Proxy integrations or CASB connectors, if supported by Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps.

    What you can do

If you want a vetted list of AI tools used in your org:

    • Use Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps > Cloud Discovery to get a real-time list of AI tools being accessed by your users.
    • You can also set up access policies to block or monitor non-compliant tools.

While there's no centralized public compatibility list, Microsoft’s ecosystem is designed to govern access and protect data across both native and third-party AI tools using Purview, MDCA, and Endpoint DLP.
