We are trying to find Azure AD Domain Services but can't see it in the list of resources.

What might be the problem and how we can fix it?
Thanks

Hi, if you can’t find “Azure AD Domain Services” anymore in the Azure portal, it’s because Microsoft renamed it to “Microsoft Entra Domain Services” in late 2024. The Marketplace tile now shows up as “Domain Services”, and the old name no longer works in search.

To create it, go to the Entra admin center at entra.microsoft.com, search for Domain Services, and follow the wizard. Alternatively, in the Azure portal, use “Create a resource → Identity - Domain Services (Microsoft)” or just search “Domain Services”.

    If it still doesn’t appear:

    – Make sure the Microsoft.AAD resource provider is registered under your subscription

    – Confirm you have the right permissions (Domain Services Contributor in Azure + Application/Groups Administrator in Entra)

    – Check that you're in the correct tenant

    – Be aware it's not available in national clouds like Azure China

    – Avoid using old portal links that reference Azure AD Domain Services, they point to a retired listing

Once everything is set, the new Domain Services option will show up and works just like before, just under the new Microsoft Entra branding.
