    Hi @Pedro Gomes,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A Forum

Regrading to your description, could you please share a few more detail by the following?

    • Which type account that you're using to open the excel file? (e.g., personal, business, education).
    • Could you please share the screenshot when the error occurs?
    • Are the affected files shared with other users? If so, could you confirm whether only you are experiencing the issue, or if others are affected as well?
    • Could you please describe how did you open excel and saw the error? For example, you open by double-click on the file Excel or open the app Excel first then try to open the file and the error occurs?
    • Does this error happen with all workbooks, or only with specific files? Are those files stored locally on your device or downloaded from an online location such as OneDrive?

If the error occur on one or some specific file, you can try to repair file to check the issue persist by follow these picture below:

    • If the error occurs with specific files, could you try opening them on another device to see if the issue persists?
    • Could you also share which troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried, or share with us know if you’ve encountered any difficulties while performing them?

In the meantime, while I'm not sure which troubleshooting steps you've done, but I'd recommend a few that you may want to infer:

1- You can check all your windows and office version and make sure everything are up to date.

2- You can try repair office from Control Panel > Programs > Microsoft 365 > Change > Quick Recovery (if it not work, you can try the Online Recovery)

3- Run the Excel in safe mode and go to File > Options > Add-Ins then uncheck all add-ins. Close Excel and reopen it normally to see if the issue persists. If Excel opens normally, re-enable the add-ins one by one until you identify the problematic one.

4- You can try creating a new user profile on your computer and see if Excel opens normally under the new profile.

For the reference troubleshoot article, you can try to refer in Excel not responding, hangs, freezes or stops working.

Thank you for your time, I'm looking forward to your response.

    Hi Mia,

Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for the support.

It's a business account and the screenshot was already provided.

The affected files are both shared or not with other users.

The error appears whether i open an excel file from explorer, or open an attachment.

This error happens with all workbooks, not related to specific files, locally or Onedrive stored.

All versions are up to date.

So far, as for troubleshooting steps I am trying to repair following your recommendation on #2 but it's taking forever.

I'll reply again when this repair process ends.

    thanks again for your support.
