Dear Microsoft Support / Community,

I’m writing this with growing frustration after being completely locked out of my Microsoft 365 account, despite being a paying subscriber.

A few days ago, I was unexpectedly logged out of my Microsoft account, which I usually access using the Microsoft Authenticator app. To make matters worse, the app itself was also logged out, and I no longer have access to it. I had no backup method set up — a mistake, but one I expected Microsoft to have some kind of recovery support for.

Since then, I’ve tried every possible route to regain access:

I attempted recovery via https://account.live.com/acsr, where I submitted every detail honestly and accurately. ➤ Shockingly, I received an email literally stating: "We've determined that we cannot help you recover your account. We'll ignore any replies to this email."

This is a bizarre and dismissive response, especially to someone who is paying for a subscription.

I tried using my phone number for recovery, only to be met with the error: “This phone number can’t be used” — without any explanation.

I searched and followed every support document, forum post, and link, all of which just redirect me in circles. There is no clear or accessible way to talk to a real support agent for this issue.

So now I’m locked out of:

My Microsoft 365 account

The Authenticator app

Password recovery

Phone verification

All while still being billed for a service I cannot use.

Honestly, I’m shocked that Microsoft has no effective recovery pathway for such a common scenario. I have valid proof of subscription and identity, and I’m happy to verify anything — but I just want to speak with a real human who can actually help me.

Please escalate this to someone who can intervene.

Sincerely,Dear Microsoft Support / Community,

    Hi ksm29febru,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand your frustration right now regarding your account being locked issue. However, the Q&A forum is not authorized to investigate account security issues and recommends that you contact Microsoft Support directly and get one-on-one assistance from there.

    Contact Microsoft Support.

    1. Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. Type Contact in the search box.
    3. Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support or Sign in to contact support below.
    4. Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category.
    5. On the Category tab, choose Manage account security.
    6. Go to Confirm.
    7. You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

Here are some illustrations for you to follow with ease:

Important Note*: The Chat support team only works at certain work times, (Monday to Friday: 9am to 6pm. Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you. *

Thank you for your patience in reading, we hope this information has been helpful to you.
