I got a new laptop/Excel. When I save a file from out accounting system, it saves as excel/web page. BEFORE I would just open in excel, say it is OK format and the file looked fine. Now, it is opening with a really really small font. I looked at Option, General, new workbook font and that is a much larger font.

    Dear @Karen Perreman,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. We are happy to assist.

Regarding the issue with the small font when opening files from your accounting system, please try the following steps:

Try Opening in Excel Online If available, open the file using Excel Online. This can help determine whether the issue is specific to your local device or Excel installation.

    1. Check Excel Display Settings

Go to File > Options > Advanced > Display Enable the checkbox for “Disable hardware graphics acceleration” This setting can improve rendering consistency and may resolve display issues.

    1. Try a Different Font Template Open the file and change the font to a basic system font such as Arial or Times New Roman. This helps identify whether the issue is related to a specific font.
    2. Reset Excel Templates:

Exit all Office programs. Ensure there are no files in the following folders: Navigate to:

    C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

press Enter to check for any files. If there are files, please delete them; if not, close the window.

    Or

    Navigate to:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\XLSTART or C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\XLSTART, check for any files. If there are files, please delete them as well; if not, close the window.

Press the Windows key + R key at the same time, type "regedit", and press Enter.

Navigate to the following registry key locations and rename the Excel folder (right-click it and select Rename, for example, rename Excel to Excelold):

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click How to back up and restore the registry in Windows - Microsoft Support to view the article.

After performing the above operations, check if the problem persists.

If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out. We're here to help. Thank you very much for your understanding and your cooperation.
