    Dear Haitham Tawakkol,

We understand you're currently running Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Evaluation and would like to transition to the Standard edition while retaining your files, applications, and settings.

Unfortunately, in-place downgrades from the Datacenter Evaluation edition to Standard are not supported by Microsoft. The Evaluation edition is considered a trial version, and converting it directly to a lower-tier edition like Standard requires a clean installation.

However, here are the steps we recommend to proceed safely:

    A) Recommended Approach:

    Backup Your Data

Before making any changes, ensure that all critical files, application data, and system configurations are backed up securely.

Perform a Clean Installation of Windows Server 2022 Standard

You will need to install the Standard edition from official installation media.

During setup, choose **Custom Installation** and avoid formatting the drive to preserve the Windows.old folder (though this won't retain installed applications).

         **Restore Files and Reconfigure Applications**

After installation, you can manually restore your files.

Applications will need to be reinstalled and reconfigured.

    B)  Important Notes:

Installed applications and system settings cannot be preserved during this downgrade.

Licensing for the Standard edition must be properly activated using a valid product key.

    I hope this helps,

    Best regards,

    Harry Phan
