Dear Ilesanmi Lola****,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A.
This behavior is not normal for a standard Windows component. The program calling itself "Connection Manager" and closing your browsers is almost certainly a virus or some other type of malicious software. It's designed to be annoying and may be trying to do other harmful things in the background. We could try these steps to see if it can fix the issue:
- Run a Windows Security Full Scan:
- Go to Start, type "Windows Security"
- Select Windows Security > Virus & threat protection
- Under Current threats, click on Scan options
- Select Full scan > Scan now
- Run a Malwarebytes scan:
- Go to the official Malwarebytes website and download the free version
- Install the program, following the on-screen instructions. You can uncheck any offers for the "Premium Trial" if you just want the free scanner
- Open Malwarebytes and click the Scan button
- Let the scan finish. If it finds any items, make sure they are all selected and click Quarantine. This moves the bad files to a secure "jail" where they can't harm your computer
- Restart your computer (if need)
- Check for suspicious startup programs:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
- Click on Startup tab
- Look through the list for anything named Connection Manager or anything else you don't recognize. Look for programs with strange names or no publisher listed.
- If you find a suspicious program, click on it and then click the Disable button in the bottom-right corner. Note: Disabling an item here doesn't delete it; it just stops it from launching on its own. This is a safe way to prevent it from running.
- Repair your system files:
- Click the Start button and type cmd.
- Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run these commands one by one:
sfc /scannow DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Restart your computer
If nothing above works, we could try Reinstall Windows with the installation media - Microsoft Support
