Hi!

I'm just getting started with Azure and have recently completed a few tutorials as part of my learning process.

However, when trying to use Cloud Shell, I received the following error:

Requesting a Cloud Shell.
Sorry, your Cloud Shell failed to provision:
{"code":"TenantDisabled","message":"Cloud Shell has been disabled in directory 'a3aa8ab9-f428-41b6-8469-4c0b96372726'."}
Request correlation ID: JAPANWEST:20250806T070519Z:6827bf10-7524-4a1d-b416-5e022656728f

I haven’t used Cloud Shell much yet, so I was surprised to see this message. From what I’ve read, it may be possible to request that Cloud Shell be enabled again through this channel.

Could someone please look into this and enable Cloud Shell for my tenant?

Thank you very much for your help!

    hi there projectcapybara)

    aha, looks like ur cloud shell got disabled in ur azure tenant. no worries, we can sort this out ))

    u need someone with admin rights to re enable it. specifically, a global admin or someone with 'user access administrator' role can fix this. they should go to the azure portal, then 'azure cloud shell' settings, and toggle it back on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cloud-shell/features#enable-cloud-shell-for-your-tenant.

    if u don't have those permissions, u gotta ask ur it team or whoever manages ur azure setup. they might have disabled it for some reason, like cost control or security policies.

    also check this sometimes, it's not just about the tenant setting. make sure ur subscription is active and u have enough permissions to use cloud shell. u can peek at ur subscription status in the azure portal under 'subscriptions'.

    this might help in other tools too if u're diving into azure, worth looking into azure policy. it's a handy way to manage rules across ur resources. maybe ur tenant has a policy blocking cloud shell by default. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/governance/policy/overview.

    and thanks for posting this on q&a )) good luck with ur azure journey! if u hit more snags, just ask.
