Can we setup a VM in a separate VLAN in Azure and integrate it with other systems?

As mentioned by @TP, In Azure, the concept of VLANs, commonly used in on-premises environments to isolate network segments, is not directly supported in the traditional sense.

However, Azure offers equivalent functionality using Virtual Networks (VNets) and subnets, which provide similar levels of isolation, segmentation, and traffic control.

To replicate your existing VLAN setup in Azure:

• You can deploy your VM into a dedicated subnet within an Azure Virtual Network (VNet). This subnet will act as the isolated logical boundary—similar to a VLAN on-premises.
• Traffic control can be enforced using Network Security Groups (NSGs), which allow you to define inbound and outbound rules at the subnet or VM level.

You can use Virtual Network / Subnet / Network Security Group (NSG) / Application Security Group to provide isolation.

If you describe how this VM needs to be isolated and what other resources (VMs, database, on-prem, etc.) it needs to interact with then I can make suggestions.
