Hi Everyone, After updating to latest Outlook iOS version, noticed the File share via option to unmanaged apps is not protected even though the app protection policy with below controls are applied.

Outlook iOS - v4.2530.1 (noticed on older versions from 4.2528.0)

We have only one app protection policy for all MS apps on iPhone/iPad. Copy paste to unmanaged apps is restricted (works fine).

App protection policy:

Send org data to other apps : Policy managed apps with OS sharing

Receive data from other apps: All apps

Open data into Org documents: Allow

Restrict cut, copy, and paste between other apps: Policy managed apps with paste in

Encrypt Org data: Require

anyone aware of this issue ? or able to reproduce/reported the issue ?

    Dear Saravana Jothi Mahalingam,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

According to your information you provided, I understand that you can still share files with unmanaged apps even though you've enabled the app protection policy 'Send org data to other apps: Policy managed apps with OS sharing.

For better assist, would you mind helping me confirm a few details:

    • Firstly, have you checked if your device has been enrolled and synced?
    • May I ask which unmanaged app you’re able to share?
    • Are you experiencing similar issues on different types of devices (iPhone vs. iPad)?
    • Does the issue occur for all file types or just specific ones?
    • Are there any specific error messages or behaviors you’ve observed when trying to share files?
    • When you select 'None', does that mean none of the apps both managed and unmanaged can be shared?User's image

    Looking forward to your response.

Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thank you for your precious time. Have a nice day!

    Hi Saravana Jothi Mahalingam,

    Thank you for your update!

According to my test environment, when I set the value to 'None', there is no sharing option available for either managed or unmanaged apps, which is expected. However, when I configure the policy as you did 'Policy managed apps with OS sharing' I am able to share with both managed and unmanaged apps. This suggests that there may be an issue with this policy.UntitledUntitled

In this case, I sincerely recommend you try to create a support ticket from Microsoft 365 Admin Center>Support>Help & Support. You can raise support ticket from https://admin.microsoft.com/#/support/requests

The support team over there has higher permission than us to investigate the issue from background, they have more resource and correct escalation channel in handling this kind of issues. This would be a more efficient way in handling the case for you.

Thanks for your patience and understanding so far.
