How do I enable the following ports, in my VM, to be able to allow outbound emails: 487 and 465

Hi Hans,

TCP port 587 and 465 should not be blocked by Azure by default. Have you tried testing to see if you can connect to the third party's server using those ports? For example, below is PowerShell command to test port 587:

Test-NetConnection <servername> -Port 587

Some questions:

• What operating system version is running in the VM?
• Does the VM have a Public IP address associated with its network interface, or is it connecting to the Internet using some other method?
• Have you looked at the NSG for the VM (and subnet if applicable) to see if it is blocking those ports?

1. The VM is running Windows 10 home
2. The VM has a public IP
3. I recently created a NSG rule allowing outbound communication for ports 587 & 465

Here is the general breakdown. I created a VM that runs Windows 10 to host my companies CRMs. The CRM has a module that sends customers confirmation emails from a pre-determined email, created using a 3rd party provider (Blue Hosting).

Recently, these emails have stopped flowing out.

When I run a PowerShell script to confirm if it is connecting, Im getting the error attached.
