Hi Akash Gopie
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum
We understand that you’ve noticed emails showing as sent from an address like @shadow.outlook.com when using the New Outlook for Mac. I understand this can look strange, and I’d like to explain what’s going on.
This address is not a real email account. It’s something Outlook uses temporarily in the background while syncing drafts and sending emails. In some cases, especially with certain setups like Exchange or Microsoft Entra, this placeholder address can accidentally appear in the “From” field of your sent messages. I also find this article that may be related to your situation:
Microsoft is aware of this behavior and is actively working on a fix. In the meantime, to minimize the issue:
- You can consider using Outlook on the Web for sending email until issue is resolved
- If your Outlook still allows it, switching back to the older version or Legacy Outlook (if possible) may help avoid the issue for now.
We truly understand how frustrating this can be, and our engineering and product teams are working hard to improve the New Outlook experience. These improvements are coming in future updates, and we're continually working to make things better
Thanks so much for your patience while we work on resolving this.
