How to find the approval group for the subscription responsible for approving PIM requests

You're trying to identify which group is responsible for approving PIM role activation requests within a specific Azure subscription.

1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center
2. Browse to ID Governance > Privileged Identity Management > Azure resource.
3. Select the subscription you want see the roles and click on the manage resource.
4. Click Roles under the manage in the left panel > Select the role (e.g., Owner, Contributor, etc.) for which you want to check the approval group.
5. In the role page, click on Settings (left pane) then Click Edit under Assignment settings for Eligible assignments.

6. Find the "Require approval to activate" setting, If set to Yes, you will see A list of individual users or a Microsoft Entra ID group.
7. This is the approval group or users responsible for approving PIM requests for that role in the subscription.

If you wanted to see the approver based on the group:

• In the ID Governance > Privileged Identity Management > Groups.
• Search for the group name, open the group and go to the Members tab.
• You can able to see the listed users are responsible for approving PIM requests.
