Cannot see any resources or create support requests, but I'm the Global Administrator and only user

I am the only user within my Azure tenant and only have one subscription. The subscription has a few resources in it - I know this because Microsoft is sending me the invoices and charging my credit card. However, when I log in I have no access to the subscription. I can't see resources, it tells me I don't have permission to change roles, etc. on the subscription.

I've tried raising a support ticket, and get an error that I don't have the required permission to send support requests.

How would I have lost access to all of these part of my Azure tenant and how can I get it back again?

As I said above, I'm the only user - and have only ever been the only user - so there is no organisation administrator that I can ask to change my privileges.

Thanks.

    Hi Dan,

Please follow instructions in article below to elevate access:

Elevate access for a Global Administrator

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/role-based-access-control/elevate-access-global-admin?tabs=azure-portal%2Centra-audit-logs#perform-steps-at-root-scope

Once you have elevated access, sign out and sign-in again for the change to take effect.

Next please navigate to list of subscriptions in portal:

    https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Billing/SubscriptionsBladeV2

Click on your subscription, then on left click Access control (IAM) blade.

Click Add -- Add role assignment, next click Privileged administrator roles tab, select Owner, click Next, click Select members, search for and Select your account, click Next, on Conditions tab select Allow user to assign all roles (highly privileged), click Review + assign, Review + assign.

After adding Owner role assignment, please sign out and back in for the change to take effect.

Now check if you have ability to create support requests and access resources in subscription.

After you are finished please remember to toggle the elevated access back to off.

If something is unclear or you have a question please add a comment below.

Please click Accept Answer and upvote if the above was helpful.

    Thanks.
