Description:

Hello Team,

We are currently using Microsoft 365 services with SharePoint Online, and our tenant domain is provisioned as:

https://netorgft12893109.sharepoint.com

However, for branding, end-user experience, and professionalism, we would like our SharePoint URL to reflect our organization’s actual domain name:

https://trisoftitsolutions.sharepoint.com

We have verified that the SharePoint domain is automatically assigned during tenant creation and cannot be modified afterward. We would like to know:

What we’re requesting:

Is there any supported way to rename the existing SharePoint domain (e.g., from netorgft12893109 to trisoftitsolutions) within the same tenant?

If not supported, can Microsoft provide an estimated roadmap or confirm if such a feature is being considered?

Is there any recommended best practice or alternative (e.g., redirect via custom domain, branding, or other workarounds) officially supported by Microsoft for branding purposes?

If we decide to create a new tenant to get the desired domain, can Microsoft assist in content migration guidance/tools and licensing transition options?

Current Setup:

Tenant domain: netorgft12893109.onmicrosoft.com

Preferred domain: trisoftitsolutions.com (already verified in tenant)

SharePoint site URL: https://netorgft12893109.sharepoint.com/sites/*

Required: https://trisoftitsolutions.sharepoint.com/sites/*

Why this is critical:

It affects brand consistency and user trust when accessing portals.

Current URLs appear generic and unrelated to our business.

We want to use SharePoint as a client-facing document and communication hub.

We appreciate any guidance, official position, or future roadmap updates on this capability.

Thank you,

Anil Mondeti
