Why can't I start the Microsoft Word app on my android tablet?

The Microsoft Word app I got on my tablet (Redmi Pad SE) doesn't want to work, ever since I installed it from the Google Play Store.
Whenever I started the app, I got a login page where it asks you your email or phone number, and after entering my email it just shows a loading throbber for a second and then it's just a blank white screen. I've waited for it for hours, tried to reinstall the app, switched to a different network, but nothing worked so far.

    Hello!

It sounds really frustrating that the Microsoft Word app won’t start on your Redmi Pad SE, especially since you’ve already tried reinstalling and switching networks. Based on your description, it seems you’re getting stuck after the login page—once you enter your email, the app just shows a white screen and doesn’t move forward.

Here are a few things you can try:

    • Make sure your Android system is up to date. Sometimes app compatibility relies on the latest updates.
    • Clear the Word app’s cache and data: Go to Settings > Apps > Microsoft Word > Storage > Clear Cache/Clear Data. Then try again.
    • Try a different Microsoft account, just in case there’s an issue specific to your login.
    • Disable any VPNs or ad blockers, as they can sometimes interfere with the login process.
    • If your tablet is managed by an organization (like a school or business), there might be device policies that block logins.
    • Double-check that you’re connected to a reliable network and not a captive portal (like public Wi-Fi that needs a browser login).
    • Make sure the Google Play Store app is also updated, since it manages app authorizations.

If none of these work, you might want to post on the official Microsoft Q&A or reach out to Microsoft support for more in-depth help.

    Best Regards,

    Jerald Felix

    Hi Fransiskus Nino

Thank you for reaching out and providing a detailed description of the issue. I appreciate your patience and effort in trying to get it working. Before diving deeper, to help identify the root cause, could you kindly confirm the following:

What Android and Microsoft Word version is running on the Redmi Pad SE?

Have you had the opportunity to log out and log back into the Word app? Based on my research, in some cases, this simple action has helped resolve similar issues. Please refer to these threads:

Could you try signing in using a different Microsoft account?

If other Office apps (such as Excel or PowerPoint) are installed on your device, could you please check whether they exhibit the same behavior?

If possible, have you tried logging into your Microsoft account on the Word app using another Android device, such as a smartphone or tablet?

Additionally, kindly attach a screenshot of what you see when the issue occurs.

In the meantime, if you urgently need to work in Word, you might consider using the web version of Microsoft Word as a temporary solution.

I truly appreciate your patience and look forward to helping you resolve this.
