o2016 is no longer sold by MS and as such it depends on the T&C's from that vendor as to whether you can return/exchange

I mistakenly purchased Office 2016 for Mac instead of for Windows PC. Is it possible to exchange it so I can install Office on my PC? The product key has already been redeemed to my personal account.

Sorry for this unwanted situation regarding the Office 2016 license issue. Unfortunately, Microsoft has retired its support for Office 2016 product, therefore, subscription cancellation or refund request may not be accepted on the official website.
In this case if you want to exchange your product key to Office 2016 for Windows, please contact the retailer where you purchased your license immediately.
