I'd install the K-Lite Codec Pack. It's free; the Standard version should be sufficient. Then try inserting the .avi file again.

Before updating to Windows 11, I was able to add the .avi video file into the PPT, and the same video file I am trying to add to the same PPT is now showing this error. Can you please help me out? I need to add this .avi file directly, as I was able to it before.
