Unable to Create Additional Application Group in Personal Host Pool for RemoteApp

Hello,

I am working with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and have created a personal host pool for assigning individual session hosts to users (1 user → 1 VM). By default, a Desktop Application Group (DAG) was automatically created for this personal host pool.

When I try to create a new application group (to host an app like a web-based app as a RemoteApp), I get the following error:

“Personal Host pool already has a Desktop application group. Please choose another host pool.”

My understanding so far:

Personal host pools are designed for full desktop assignment only.

A single Desktop Application Group is automatically created.

Additional RemoteApp groups cannot be created in a personal host pool.

Questions:

Is there any way to publish individual applications (RemoteApps) from a personal host pool?

  1. Or is creating a pooled host pool the only option to host apps like a standalone Remote Apps?

Thank you for the guidance!

@Vishal Kumar I hope you are doing well,

Personal host pools in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) are designed for full desktop experiences, and they enforce a hard limit: only one Desktop Application Group (DAG) is allowed per personal host pool. That’s why you're seeing the error when trying to create a RemoteApp group.
