How to maintain text formatting on Microsoft Forms?

I am adding text to both the form description and a question in the form. I use paragraph breaks to make the information easier to read and understand. I make sure the form title at the top turns from "Saving..." to "Saved" before I click out of the text box. However, sometimes the text all becomes one paragraph again. If I go back in and fix it, sometimes some paragraph breaks will stay as I put them and sometimes they will revert. This is really frustrating as when the text is all jumbled together it is difficult to read and unprofessional. Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi @EAlberts

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

First, as I understand it, your issue is that Microsoft Forms isn't consistently maintaining paragraph breaks (new lines) in text, especially after saving. This causes the text to become jumbled, making it hard to read and look unprofessional.

Have I understood your concern correctly?

I've also run some tests in my environment and observed similar results. When I copy and paste the text below into a form:

    "Test for maintain text formatting

    Test for maintain text formatting

    Test for maintain text formatting

    Test for maintain text formatting"

After pasting it into the form and re-editing by pressing Enter for new lines, I waited for the status to go from 'Saving...' to 'Saved.' However, when I checked again, the text was still condensed into one paragraph, as you described. User's imageUser's image

I apologize for this inconvenience. It's likely that this behavior is "by design" due to the current limitations of Microsoft Forms' text formatting capabilities.

We truly appreciate your input, as it helps shape the future of Microsoft 365. While our community team can’t directly implement feature changes, your feedback is invaluable - and here’s how you can ensure it reaches the right team:

I also tried a temporary workaround: instead of pressing Enter once between paragraphs, I press Enter twice. This seems to make Forms recognize and maintain the desired line breaks. User's image Alternatively, I can adjust the line breaks, then select all the text (Ctrl+A) and apply bullet points to it. This often forces Forms to keep the line breaks. User's imageUser's image Are you experiencing a similar situation, or do you have any other details to add about this issue? Could you please try these methods and let me know if they work for you?

    Looking forward to your response!
