Request for Access to Microsoft Entra Admin Center – Azure for Students

I'm a student at Harper College using the Azure for Students subscription. I'm trying to access the Microsoft Entra Admin Center (entra.microsoft.com) to register my application and configure SSO under Enterprise Applications. However, I'm receiving an error stating that I don’t have access and need to contact my administrator.

Based on Microsoft’s documentation, I believe I’m missing the "Application Administrator" role required to access this functionality. I contacted my college, but they confirmed that they do not manage Azure for Students accounts directly.

Could you please advise who I should contact to request access or role assignment?

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Azure for Students subscriptions do not provide full access to Microsoft Entra ID features such as application registration or SSO configuration. This is a built‑in limitation of the subscription type and cannot be changed, even with role assignments. If you need these capabilities, you will need to use a different subscription, such as a Free Trial, Pay‑As‑You‑Go, or an organizational account provided by your school that includes Entra administrator access.

    Hello Joey Tran,

While your subscription may not be managed by your college staff, Microsoft Entra ID permissions are typically managed by your college’s IT administrator.

You are using an Azure work or school account that was created under your college's Azure directory. To manage Microsoft Entra ID settings in that directory—such as creating applications under Enterprise Applications—you need to have at least the Cloud Application Administrator role.

You can refer to the following documentation for a list of least-privileged roles for managing enterprise applications:

If you are using your own Azure directory and still facing this issue, please ensure that you have been assigned the appropriate role under Microsoft Entra ID roles and administrators.
